YouTube Advertising for Home Service Businesses
YouTube advertising, how does it work and does it make sense for Home Service businesses. The short answer is yes for most many home service businesses. In general, the more expensive the service you are offering the more likely it is that YouTube ads would be a good fit for your business. For example, let’s say you have locked yourself out of your house or car and you need to hire a locksmith to get you into the house or car and maybe make new keys for you. In all likelihood you would go onto google and hire the first company that you felt comfortable with. You would not do a lot of research or investigating. However, let’s look at example #2 in which someone is thinking about a new roof for their house or business and let’s say the price of the roof is going to be approximately $30,000. That person is more than likely going to do a good amount of research which would include watching videos to get more information on the best and cheapest way to get this work done.
So how does YouTube advertising work. First you need a video which should be anywhere from 30 seconds to maybe 45 seconds in length. You are going to want the person who watches the video to do something after watching the video. Such as call you, download information in which they would be required to give you their contact information. The good part is the clicks are very inexpensive normally 5 to 20 cents per view and Google will not charge you for that view unless the person watches the video. In other words, if someone watches 5 seconds of a 40 second video you will not be charged.
I am not going to go into detail on how to set up the campaign but it is similar to a Google AdWords campaign in which you are targeting individuals with keywords. For example, if you are a roofer looking to sell flat roofs the keyword used might be flat roof cost.
Now the good part in order to really get the campaign going at its maximum efficiency or to get the most out of it lead wise your next step is to set up a retargeting campaign. Meaning when a person watches the video Google will retarget or send display ads to that person as frequently and for as long as you would like. This is where you will get many of the conversions. Meaning if someone watches the video but does not call or email you for information you will be able to continue to send them ads. The ads you send will be display ads and they will be much less expensive then say a google click on an AdWords campaign. Which tend to be expensive.
